West-London talent Yaz León makes her Lyrical Lemonade debut with a stunning new EP entitled IT’S ONLY TAKEOUT MA. The project was written and produced by Yaz León herself, with additional production from Ess West, plus live
instrumentation from Luke Bachuss, Seun Folayan, Jack Oliver, and Starkey the Messenger. With six special songs,
León’s EP [conceptually] centers around her Spanish-Iraqi roots, while exploring her familial and romantic relationships. Moreover, the introspectiveness of IT’S ONLY TAKEOUT MA stems from conversations with herself regarding her emotional ties. Sonically, Yaz experiments with an array of pleasing production, with fusions of soul, funk, R&B, and pop music. Irrespective of genre, each track thematically possesses its own narrative. There are a number of topics referenced, such as nostalgia, distrust, intimacy, and toxic masculinity.
