Neosoul is a small genre of music that is extremely slept on in my opinion. There is so much artistry that goes into Neosoul, music lovers need open their eyes and ears to the magnificent sounds. As I open myself up to new artists and styles of music, I came across Meraki. She’s native to Milwaukee, where she was born and raised, but has been living in Georgia in recent years. These two settings have helped influence her style, which is impressive considering the extremely different sounds you hear from both places. In her latest single “In The Club,” Meraki displays her mystifying voice while expressing a story about some of the memories she had at a club and beyond. Kutthrowt was behind the production of this track, adding to her story with a calm instrumental that emphasizes Meraki’s soulful voice and her passion for music. I can’t wait to see where Meraki will go in her career, because it’s not a matter of if she will make it, but when. And at only 19 years old, she’s got a head start on her competition.
