Just this week, I got put on to one of my favorite new artists and it’s only right for me to take the time to share him with all of our loyal fans and readers. Often times, when I’m greeted with a text from a friend that says, “You gotta listen to this kid”, more times than not, I tread lightly to avoid any unmet expectations. This time though, my expectations were exceedingly met by the song that was on the other side of that text exchange. Making it onto our page today is a 17-year-old singer/songwriter/producer named Emmett Mulrooney who is on his way to becoming a very notable name that you need to be on the look out for. Before a couple of days ago, I had no idea who this kid was but after taking the time to dive into his discography, it was clear that he has the talent to set himself a part from a lot of the artists who are making music today. Because of this, it was imperative that I hopped on a call with the up and comer and figure out what makes him so special. Growing up in Milwaukee, Emmett explained to me that he pretty much came out of the womb playing guitar as his parents encouraged him from a very young age to pick up music as a hobby. From there, the future star finally realized that he wanted to do music and at the age of 12 he forced himself to learn 30 songs that he could sing very well. Once he did that, the young Emmett began singing outside of Farmer’s Markets. Overwhelmed by the positive responses and generous tips, it seemed like music could definitely be a reality for him. Fast-forward to now and Emmett is currently experiencing the success that he’s wanted all along. After dropping his very first EP in 2019, Emmett reflects on the first time he realized that making a career in music could be a reality. He explained:
“After the EP came out in 2019, I got on my very first discover weekly which took my monthly listeners from like 0 people to 5,000 people; which wasn’t a lot now that I think about it, but for just getting started, it meant the most. Looking back, that was the first time that I really felt like I could do something in music.”
With that newfound confidence that cultivated that day, Emmett has since grown his name and music all thanks to his natural talent. His newest song, “IDC 4 TODAY” is the perfect anthem to introduce you to this infectious artist who is bound to be on all of the playlists in no time. The catchy track showcases Emmett’s ability to craft up some amazing tunes. The offering that was co-produced by Sean Gerty wastes no time in grabbing your attention due to its upbeat and lighthearted vibe. Another bright spot of this piece is the stellar cover art that was created by Dylan Hoffman. From every angle, this song is just great. I promise that it will be stuck in your head for a very long time and you should be excited about that.
