Hues – [Fana Hues]

Last weekend brought with it a plethora of new releases, but one project, in particular, took a majority of my time; Hues by Fana Hues. The 10-track album is an impressionable debut from an artist who is making a compelling case for an artist with longevity. Packed with Fana Hues’ euphorically bright vocals, rich storytelling, electric guitars, hypnotizing, and groove-inducing drums result in an exciting and shifting shade of R&B.

The album is sprawling with highs and lows, rapid and abrupt changes that tell an incredibly transparent story of human emotion. Despite its dynamic nature, the project remains unequivocally concise. Fana Hues is like a veteran ringleader, guiding listeners through the complexities before them with grace and poise. Songs like “Icarus,” “Ends,” “Snakes X Elephants,” and “Desert Flower” all bring something to the table, helping to create an overwhelming sound that is woven synonymously with Fana Hues’ individuality. With R&B in such a special place right now, an artist like Fana Hues has an unlimited amount of cap space for her style of R&B to flourish and thrive.
