West Nashville’s Trapperman Dale has been remarkably consistent over the past fours years now and there is little doubt in my mind if Dale wasn’t climbing a tremendous uphill battle as a street artist attempting to make it in a city that has fostered little success over the past decade but nonetheless Dale has never wavered in his output, standing as a lyrical force with his streetwise bars and tales from the trenches that dwarf the lyrical achievements of many of the other artists in the city who wouldn’t ever claim the trap side of things. Trapperman Dale recently unloaded a MobSquad Nard featuring visual for his track “Hotel Preston” where Dale skated over an instrumental with a great deal of Detroit influence without being too overbearing and still showing a deal of Memphis’ fingerprints as well.
Trapperman Dale can flat out rap his ass off and has done so over and over again throughout his career and approaches each song with tremendous care and never, ever is caught repeating or stealing bars. Rather he just raps what he knows and what he lived with a cinematic precision and an intricate knowledge of street life and the dope game that allows for bars that fly over the heads of most passive listeners who may not be aware of the true gravity or depth to the things he is saying. His labelmate MobSquad Nard also dropped off a very hard guest verse on this trap, skating over the beat with his distinct Florida drawl. If you didn’t get the chance to check out Trapperman Dale’s summer mixtape Flight Risk I would highly recommend doing so and I am very eager to see Dale only continue to grow as an artist and in popularity as we head into 2021.
