“As I continue to work harder on my music and bettering myself as a person, I find that every aspect of my artistry – visually, sonically, and vibrationally – starts to make sense as a unit. Growing up in a traditional Chinese household, I’m expected to be respectful, compliant, or for a lack of a better word, submissive because of how my culture views my gender. Moving to America was a huge step in finding my dominance as a woman. ‘Headlights’ is a song I wrote a year ago reminding myself just how capable it is to feel in control in relation to men extending outside of my partnerships. The visuals that accompany this song are centered around the color orange – a fiery glow to symbolize my ignited self” – Deb Fan
Hong Kong raised / LA-based artist & producer Deb Fan makes her Lyrical Lemonade debut with a sensational new single titled “Headlights.” Fan’s dreamy vocals are lulled to perfection; the atmospheric production creates an intimate soundscape that immediately blesses your ears. Every musical aspect of this offering draws you in, while the lyrics depict vivid imagery along a colorful aesthetic. Moreover, Deb’s pacing is exceptional, as she allows for the instrumental to rhythmically follow her lead (as opposed to the reverse). Truth be told, I couldn’t be more blown away by this track.
