Hawk Em – [FastMoney Ant]

In the Chicago music landscape, there are so many artists that it can be hard to really make a splash in the scene that others are going to notice, whether it’s in the city or out. That’s why, when an artist starts to make some noise no matter what stage of their career they’re in, I have no choice but to listen up. Not too long ago, I was put onto Chicago’s very own FastMoney Ant, and even though he really only has a handful of songs out at the moment, he is amassing some crazy numbers and even more loyal fans. Considering he hasn’t released a ton of music quite yet, I was beyond excited to check out his latest Spank on the Beat-produced song “Hawk Em” as well as the Diamond Visuals-directed music video.

As it begins, we’re introduced to tiptoeing, almost haunting piano keys and impactful synths, but when the beat drops, off-kilter percussion and booming 808s enter into the picture for an unbelievably rowdy foundation. When Ant comes in, he enters with such enthusiasm and passion which I believe might be leveled up by his slightly higher-pitched delivery. While the beat might sound a bit more like a typical drill beat you might hear for other Chicago artists, Ant makes sure to constantly change up his flows and deliveries in order to keep listeners guessing and prove that he’s a one-of-a-kind artist and not one of these copycats who try and leech off of the success of others.

When it comes to the music video, Ant takes us to the streets as various legal and not-so-legal activities unfold in front of him. While I love this music video without a doubt, I figured I’d let you check that out while you listened to the record so you can see it for yourself and form your own opinion as well. At the end of the day, FastMoney Ant is truly making a case as to why he’s next up out of the Windy City, and even though I can count the number of songs he has out on one hand, he’s making sure each and every one of them are as good as they can be. If you weren’t already familiar with Ant, make sure you get caught up on everything you’ve missed out on thus far, beginning with his latest song “Hawk Em”.
