Grails – [Pi’erre Bourne]

Ahead of his highly anticipated Coachella debut, Pi’erre Bourne luckily gifted us his brand-new EP, Grails. This project is a collection of eight songs that feature re-recorded versions of fan-favorite snippets and early Pi’erre tracks. Finally, after waiting quite a while, the Grammy award-winning producer, rapper, and CEO of SossHouse has given official releases to songs like “IG” and “Honeyberry 2”, which had previously only been available as snippets or DSP drops.

The EP also includes anticipated cuts like “NY in June” and “George Lopez”, among a handful of others, and I can’t wait to keep diving in for more listens. Grails showcases Pi’erre’s inventive production style, which is never overlooked in the first place, while also displaying his prowess behind the boards which has earned him a reputation as one of rap’s most innovative producers. While his production might’ve been what got me hooked in the first place, it’s his unbelievably charming vocals that have kept me coming back for every new release.

The EP is indeed a gift for fans ahead of Pi’erre’s aforementioned Coachella debut this weekend. At the same time, it also marks an already busy year for the creative who recently shared the video for “DJ In The Car”, a standout from his 2022 album Good Movie. Pi’erre is hard at work on the follow-up to last year’s album, and I was delighted to find out that it’s set to drop later this year.

Grails is an undeniable must-listen for fans of Pi’erre’s ground-breaking production style as well as his easygoing, casual, and melodic flow. With a number of tracks that any music fan would appreciate, the EP shows off the musician’s ability to blend genres and create a sound that is distinctly his own. Don’t miss out on this gift from one of rap’s most imaginative trendsetters!
