Got Drunk For The Most High – [LOS KEMET]

Far too often I find myself getting caught up in the styles that are considered “hot” these days and lose sight of the core reason behind what made me love hip-hop in the first place – bars and raw storytelling. Taking us back to the roots, LOS KEMET has been impressing us over the past 6 months or so with his “Seeds Of The South” sound and consistent releases that are leveling up with each and every drop. I was first put on to LOS’ music back in November when he released  “Shake Junt”, and walked away impressed, but once he dropped his single, “Bron Money” in late-January I knew that I was going to be a fan of his for the long-run.

Making his Lyrical Lemonade debut today, I’m thrilled to be highlighting LOS’ new project, “Got Drunk For The Most High”. A 12-song masterclass on how to rap, the Jackson, Mississippi native delivered some serious heat throughout the project that is sure to hold us over until we hear from him again. Highlighted by some of my personal favorite records such as “Still Speedin”, “Moonshine”, “Active”, and more, “Got Drunk For The Most High” is the pinnacle tape to be spinning as springtime begins to emerge. Accompanied by collaborators Caterpillar Jones, Cara Crosby, and Por Vida, LOS blessed us with his New Soul sound on all of his collaborative efforts (“5 Star”, “Slammin” and “Moonshine”), finding the perfect synergy in each of them. While certainly a smooth project throughout, LOS also delivered with more edgy records like “Shake Junt” and “F&N” that I think add an interesting, but necessary twist to the album that shows how versatile his artistry truly is.
