Gone – [Mental]

Everything that makes up the artistic status that the ever-rising pop talent Mental lays claim to is saturated in a pure sense of unreplicated wonder. His incredibly unique vocal tones matched with the entirely ideal aura that surrounds said voice – most prominently found in his atmospheric production stylistics along with various lyrical themes – create an atmosphere unlike anything ever heard to this point in the grander pop landscape.

His most recent track entitled “Gone” is just another addition to a discography that is seeing itself bolstered and substantiated more and more with every single release that encompasses this aforementioned artistic status; seemingly each and every track works to elevate the groundwork that he’s already laid for himself, and the results are paying off day by day.

“Gone” is a telling apex of what this all-too-unique sound has truly come to at this point. The track is an absolute awe-inspiring 3-minute experience that feels as if it could last forever on its own. Mental brings together a dividing line that is very rarely ever brought together, at least in regards to pop music in this manner; he equates an almost far off and spacious tone with one that feels extremely upfront and approachable from another aspect — both combining to create a certain mystique about itself that is completely of its own.

Where his lyrics are vivid, moving, and even relatable from a grand spectacle, the sonic aspects that surround what is being said are almost otherworldly and incredibly elusive in their own right. It takes a great deal of talent to combine these two facets into one collective experience, but given how Mental is equally as outstanding on the mic as he is with the production given here, there are possibly no better candidates to bet on as far as picking someone to accomplish exactly that is concerned.
