Artist and producer Cameron Butler has just shared the first single off his forthcoming solo album “Purple Nirvana.” On “Get Right,” Butler expands upon his atmospheric, spacey sound that he’s delivered in past collaborations, notably with Chicago’s own IsaiahG. But Butler is the main attraction here, standing alone and demonstrating what he has to offer as both vocalist and producer. He’s strung together a musical trip of a song, one that ends in a completely different place than it starts in. His voice, alternating between punctuated raps and layered harmonies, channels feelings of nostalgia and positivity. I can’t say I’ve heard anyone who sounds exactly like Butler before, and “Get Right” leaves a listener wondering what other galactic vibes he’s cooked up for his album.
