Currently incarcerated Stone Mountain, GA artist Glokk40Spaz is one of the most exciting new rappers coming out of the Atlanta metro area and is continuing the work of many notable Atlanta rappers who have contributed to making “Atlanta-drill” if you will, into the recognizable and underrated phenomenon it is today. The sound itself to me first became so notable during the SoundCloud heyday that saw artists like Slimesito, but more importantly producers like SenseiATL, Casok, Xangang, and 2wo2imes who is the man behind the beat for Glokk40Spaz’s latest visual for “Sumo.” This sound can be characterized by its emotionless melodies, fast and raucous trap-derivative drums, and off-kilter hi-hats and even bells, as a song like Yeat’s “Get Busy” for example can easily be traced back in influence to this particular brand of underground Atlanta rap. Teenage Glokk40Spaz is quite obviously at this point, along with artists like 1504 MuteBaby or 24LeftEye for example among others, to help usher this sound to a new generation and breath new life into the addictive instrumentals. Spaz attacks the 2w02imes production with his staccato flow that eats up the beat from start to finish with an almost rabid, aggressive delivery. The duo of Moshpxt and Malxk brought this video to life and yet again proves Moshpxt to be one of the very most hip cameramen or people in general in the entire industry, particularly in the underground.
