I’m positive that when I say Glaive is one of the best artists in general right now, that’s not an unpopular opinion. He is just making music unlike anyone else, his songwriting skills could go toe to toe with the best and most seasoned songwriters, and he just seems like one of the most relatable artists in the music world. What’s even wilder is the fact that he’s just 16 and he’s balancing a life of fame and fortune in music with a full-time high school class load.
As for Renforshort, I wasn’t familiar with her work until this duo teamed up for their record “Fall Apart” which I’ve been playing back almost religiously since it was released a couple of weeks ago. I was shocked and ashamed of myself that I didn’t realize that the record also came alongside a music video directed by Iris Kim, so after noticing this last night, I simply couldn’t help but share it with you all.
Opening up, Ren finds herself wandering around alone in a somewhat small, empty town before making her way to Cypress Grove Lane, tying in the connection with the title of Glaive’s debut EP Cypress Grove from last November. She quickly arrives at a run-down, abandoned-looking home which she walks right into without a second thought. She searches around the house and looks in all the different rooms as the beat drops and frantic lights and camerawork begin to unfold alongside the rhythm of the song itself.
This leads us right into Glaive’s verse as he is shown laying down flat on the ground while notes and papers sporadically cover the ground beneath him. As his enthusiasm raises, he gets up and stands in front of a wild, investigation-like wall with lines reaching from one piece of paper to another as if he’s trying to solve a crime. Right at the end, though, there is a plain white figure dressed in a black suit looking like the Slenderman legend, standing in the window while watching Ren run out of the house in a panicked, worrisome manner to bring the visual to a close.
First off, I just have to say that this is an undeniable hit in my own unbiased opinion. It sounds like it can and should be played all over every radio station across the country, yet it feels like it might take a few more of these bangers before the mainstream media truly catches on. Aside from that, though, Renforshort surprised me and captivated me all at the same time in the best possible ways. I came for Glaive because I knew his part was going to be unbelievable but I’m leaving this offering knowing about possibly my new favorite female vocalist. She is absolutely incredible and her alongside Glaive was absolutely magical, so you can bet your life savings that I’m going to be listening in to all of her new releases from here on out. I highly suggest you tap in as well, and “Fall Apart” is the can’t miss new song from this remarkable tag team, so make sure you check it out as soon as you possibly can.
