DMV artist Matt McGhee recently released his seven-track LP titled ESFN (Extended Play), a beautiful project showing the artist’s brilliance in a fluid, cohesive manner.
McGhee released a prior version of ESFN during the pandemic that received critical acclaim, but with a new promotional strategy and a reworked project, this “extended play” LP shows growth and attention to detail, as the wordsmith constructed a masterpiece with support from several other talents in Alex Vaughan, JaVonte, and Al Hostile.
You’ll want to listen to this album from top to bottom, as I can’t emphasize enough how well-rounded and rhythmic its structure is as a whole. On top of that, it’s incredibly refreshing to hear an artist whose thoughts and lyricism are so well articulated. I also personally love the slower-style, melodic instrumentals as they mesh with his delivery effortlessly.
Though hard to select, I’d say my personal favorite joints are “Stay/Personal Celebrity” and “B/W Parkway.”
