Camden Malik, independent artist from Sacramento, is on our pages for the first time with his incredibly soulful and heartening new single “Dreams”.
The beat on here, courtesy of Jaso, is one that will put an instant smile on the face of any hip-hop fan. It’s a glitchy but soulful instrumental, prominently featuring a pretty vocal sample. As the track progresses, more vocals and strings are added, feeding the song’s soulful sentiment, ending the track on a powerful high note.
“Dreams” runs only two minutes, but it’s packed full of lyrical content that reverberates themes of self-love, accepting struggle, trusting the process, and staying true to one’s roots.
Camden’s flow on the track is silky smooth, as he maneuvers his way through the track with great cadence and energy that reflects the song’s subject matter. The hook on here, echoing the idea of sticking with someone through thick and thin, is addicting, and forces multiple listens.
It’s imminent that a track with themes and production of this type will be in my rotation all summer, check it out for yourself on Soundcloud down below.
