DOSES – [TheHxliday]

If you know anything about Chicago, you should know that it’s such a welcoming gathering place for people of all walks of life, and that extends deep into the music world as well. For TheHxliday, he has been all over the country for tours, festival performances, and other music business, and although Baltimore is the place he calls home, he has definitely found some comfort here in Chicago as a sort of second home as well. His work with us here at Lyrical Lemonade has probably helped sway him even just a tiny bit to stay here more extensively, and I think it goes without saying that we obviously welcome him with open arms.

Although he has accrued the label of being an emo rap/hip-hop artist due to his various darker, duskier releases in the past, he has never been one to stay within the same lane or be confined to boundaries, so when he dropped off “DOSES” last year, it was an unexpected yet extremely pleasant surprise thanks to the infectious pop elements that are shown throughout. This is a song that will definitely get stuck in your head after a single listen, so it’s even more awesome that he finally dropped a music video for this hit just in time for Valentine’s Day (I know I’m a day late, I apologize).

This one takes us back to a classic high school romance story, opening in a world where everyone but TheHxliday and his love interest is frozen. The girl he likes gets up and leaves a love note on his desk as he sleeps through class, but when he wakes up and opens it, he sees that she’s actually asking him to go for sundaes after school. From here, the sparks begin to fly as cartoonish hearts begin to float around him. When class is dismissed, he hits the halls where he is joined by his classmates who dance around and vibe out to the addicting song.

Finally, school comes to an end which means the date is on, so the two head to a classic looking diner for ice cream sundaes where they proceed to enjoy each other’s company, ultimately ending in a picture-perfect date that appeared to go extremely well for the young couple. This was definitely the perfect visual love story for a holiday like Valentine’s Day, and the song itself is just as incredible as the day I first heard it, making the music video for TheHxliday’s hit record “DOSES” an absolute must-watch before you do anything else today.
