DON’T PLAY – [Obai]

I made this song with cashmoneyap and fellow Cash Gang member Daniel Moras! Knowing that I used to freestyle on cashmoneyap type beats like 5 years ago over Xbox with friends I can easily say that it was such a cool experience for me! Genuinely such a blessing. Me and him made two songs the night we linked up to record at his studio. DONT PLAY was the second song to come out of that session! Everything kind of just fell into place really quick. It was one of those things that felt really natural and I think that the best music always comes out like that. I had my best friend Harding and manager Ruben with me at the time of recording, so I immediately started thinking about the bond that we have! When we’re together I think that nothing could make us fold or break. Can’t be fucked with type shit. I hope this song makes you feel the same way it makes me! “Obai

Phoenix, Arizona native Obai returns to Lyrical Lemonade with his most impressive offering yet titled “DON’T PLAY.” Remarkably just sixteen years of age, the artist is crafting bangers equally impressive as his older contemporaries. By the same token, Obai’s youth is a sign of immense potential, considering his sound and lyrical content will continue to mature. “DON’T PLAY” is a fascinating merge of modern R&B and new school rap, and if artists like A Boogie wit Da Hoodie, Bryson Tiller, or Roddy Ricch were to hear the record I’d confidently bet that they’d cosign. The production contains plenty of bass, but Obai never falters vocally by altering his pitch when necessary. Specific periods of emotion; particularly relating to relationships and/or heartbreak showcase his exceptional pitch variance. Overall, “DON’T PLAY” is my favorite track from Obai yet, and I look forward to hearing what else he has in store. Have a listen below!
