Maryland rapper Black Fortune is without question one of the most naturally gifted artists in the entire rap landscape now, towering atop his competition as a vocalist who is able to create melodies and hit-notes that his peers could not even dream of while also having more bars and flows than most of his counterparts, skating over just about any beat you put him on, from the glitteriest commercial trap to ominous drill tracks like his collaboration with Fivio Foreign we covered a few months back. His latest song and video for “DOJO” is just about the most turnt-up offering Fortune has given us yet, taking a trunk-rattling beat complete with a trunk-rattling instrumental with a distinctly Asian woodwind sample. Fortune is first-rate in both the categories of lyrics and meter as he spits his lyrically dense bars in tongue-twister fashion and works the beat for absolutely everything he can get out of it. His punchlines are both hilarious and intimidated and oftentimes both at the same time. There is literally nothing that Black Fortune cannot do and that is exactly why he is one of my favorite artists out.
