Kentucky has established itself as the original stomping grounds for quite a few memorable acts over the past decade, so it should come as no surprise that we’ll be highlighting yet another promising creative from the Bluegrass State here today. Making her Lyrical Lemonade debut, Diamond Ray, brings us a fresh blend of r&b and pop sounds to brighten up your gloomy Monday morning here in Los Angeles (or possibly beautiful afternoon elsewhere!). Channeling her bright and eccentric energy through her boisterous music, Diamond officially released her first song on streaming platforms earlier this month and it’s already left a lasting impression on me that is sure to do the same to you.
Titled, “Dizzy”, Diamond Ray puts her commanding talents on full display in the record as the Kentucky native melds her southern background with contemporary influences in pop and r&b. Produced by none other than Matt Miggz who laid the foundation for the hit-to-be, Diamond Ray took advantage of the song’s adventurous bass line and unapologetically embraced her eclectic ways through her lyricism and poignant flows throughout the record. A hypnotic groove that is sure to send a shot of nostalgia through your veins, “Dizzy” is one of those songs that shows a tremendous willingness to take sonics risks, and with great risk we see great reward, which is exactly what came to be with this tune.
