Boobie Lootaveli is an artist who I’ve come to find out can be quite elusive at times, but that just means that his music is always as good as it gets considering he truly takes his time and makes sure that he doesn’t just release anything he records. While I first found out about him when he collaborated with Pouya on their Greatest Hits series that was full of all-out bangers, it seems as if he has been somewhat quiet, and although this might just be on me because I haven’t kept up with him as much recently, I am beyond excited to find out that he is back and better than ever.
His Mikey the Magician-produced song “[dilate]” might’ve come out a couple of weeks ago at this point, but it somehow just came across my YouTube algorithm, and I couldn’t have been more excited. In the Nicolas Giraldo-directed music video, he not only showcases his variety of skills on the record itself, but he also gives us a bit of a taste of his very diverse lifestyle, and I love how he took us along for the ride. As we are taken on a journey throughout this flick, one of the various settings is in front of and inside a convenience store where he and his crew hang out, walk up and down the aisles, and show us a little piece of his life that is a bit more lowkey than you’d expect from a star like him.
Another plethora of scenes occur inside of a kitchen at home where he and his close friends all hang out, smoke blunts, show off their various weapons, and lay low before getting into the final parts of the visual. When this happens, we are shown his much more publicly known music career, sometimes hanging out and recording in the studio while other clips show him getting the crowd going as they rage out at one of his concerts. It’s obvious that Boobie Lootaveli is an up-and-coming icon, and while we have to wait for the rest of the world to catch on, I love living vicariously through him in his awesome new music video for his song “[dilate]”.
