Nostalgia is a funny thing. There’s the nostalgia that reminds us of the brighter moments of life, and there’s the nostalgia that reminds us of the darker moments of life. Regardless of which is felt, however, the one constant is that no matter how hard we try, how much money we have, or how successful we become, we can’t go back. Nostalgia is based on memory, and that’s all our past becomes, to a certain extent: a collection or memories, often times when things were much simpler. Today, channeling this very feeling is an artist by the name of AQVOL with the new visuals for the song “Days.”
Focused around the constant hunt for money that we all experience, “Days” is partially an expression of AQVOL’s yearning for wealth and partially a memory of the times when things like wealth didn’t matter quite yet. Meanwhile, in the visuals, a gathering of childhood clips plays, reminding listeners and viewers of when they, too, lived a much simpler life.
With this, “Days” hits on a nostalgic note, but also reaches a current-day problem that I’m sure we can all resonate with to some extent. Catchy as can be in a lyrical sense and surrounded by thoughtful instrumentation, the song isn’t quite happy or sad, but rather it feels as though it’s missing a piece of the puzzle — a sense of carefree youthfulness, perhaps, when the world didn’t feel so big.
The video for “Days” is a meaningful one, so be sure to show some love and check it out below!
