South London’s BINA. returns to Lyrical Lemonade with a stunning new song titled “Dark Cloud.” Her previous release “Boundaries” also received support from LL along with other platforms such as BBC 1XTRA, GUAP magazine, and No Signal. In a quarantine-style fashion, BINA. impressively shot, directed, and edited a music video from her own home. “Dark Cloud” is a cross-continental collaboration with Atlanta producer thxnkq; the record employs soulful vocals, mellow samples, and energetic instrumentation with an experimental edge. Full of introspection, the song tells the story of BINA. embracing her “dark side,” while simultaneously appreciating those that willfully accept her dual yin and yang persona. I personally enjoy the track because of its rapid pacing, which reflects the mental jumping jacks that BINA. details. Compared to her previous releases, this track is equally as smooth, but less traditional from a pure R&B lens. However, BINA.’s typical silky-smooth qualities makes for a unique offering with a modern jazz touch. If you enjoyed the single and want to know what’s next from the artist herself, check out BINA.’s latest interview conducted by myself, which is exclusively available to read via Project FILO.
