Danny Block – [Lil Zay Osama]

Chicago is a city that I couldn’t be prouder to be from if I wanted to, and my pride continues to get stronger as more and more artists continue to put out great music. I’m a huge proponent of expressing my opinion about how underrated the music scene in this city truly is, and while there are tons of fans of the artists hailing from the Windy City, I think it always deserves so much more recognition than it currently receives. It’s obvious that drill music is what honestly put this city on the map, and even though there are countless artists outside of this genre that deserve more time in the spotlight, I am always rooting for the drill scene to continue to thrive, even if it has been almost a decade since artists like Chief Keef, Lil Durk, Lil Herb, and Lil Bibby first brought some recognition to Chi-town.

These artists are obviously still going crazy and blowing up to epic proportions, but other artists are still grinding their way into the spotlight, and one of the most notable figures is definitely Lil Zay Osama. That’s why, I couldn’t be more excited about the release of his newest song “Danny Block”, and once I heard it, I had no choice but to share it with you all alongside the SV Visuals-directed music video. In the ominous beat, there are some incredibly menacing and low-key melodies, that combine with toned down percussion and thumping 808s that give Zay a wide-open opportunity to go in whichever direction he pleases.

While some drill artists are known for their high energy, off-the-wall deliveries, and threatening dispositions, Zay instead keeps things fairly straightforward, consistently rotating through bars that are as frightening as they are well-thought-out. He pretty much keeps all the bells and whistles far away from this track, instead opting to go with a handful of candid lines that should have any one of his opps shaking in their boots. Lil Zay Osama has been making a strong case as to why he’s next up in the city’s flourishing drill scene, and “Danny Block” is just another addition to his unbeaten discography, so make sure you tune in as soon as you get the chance and see what you’ve been missing out on whenever you can.
