I’ve already started off my first few articles of the year by shouting out some of my favorite artists that I’ve had the pleasure of being put onto and getting to experience their careers blossom throughout the year. I’ve also shouted out some people who I’ve been a fan of for the better part of a decade and continue to enjoy thoroughly, but there is one more important shout out I simply couldn’t pass up, and that is to some of the music media companies and directors that I’ve become familiar with.
Overcast and HIVEMIND were two collectives that absolutely blew me away with the moves they made throughout the last 12 months, and directors like Daniel Jordan K, DotComNirvan, Moshpxt, and so many others truly brought the best out of the artists they worked with all year long, and I have to thank them for the hard work and dedication that they put into their craft. Thanks to them and tons of others, I not only got to enjoy music in a way I have never experienced before, but I also had the pleasure of finding out about some incredible young talents that they were working with, and I wouldn’t be the same music professional that I am today without their innovation and creativity.
One artist I found out about thanks to Overcast was Juno, so when I saw that they teamed back up with him and my homie midwxst to shoot another music video for their incredible song “come thru”, I knew it would have to be one of the first things I wrote about in 2022. Directed by Daniel Jordan K, obviously, the two talents seem to galivant throughout an abandoned building full of colorful lights, entertaining lenses, fascinating effects, and captivating set designs that only seem to get better as the visual goes on.
Whether they’re inside an office filled with drawings and papers, running around in the halls, or dancing around on the roof of the building, they are always full of enthusiasm, charm, and personality, and that’s one thing that I find so addicting about both of these remarkable emcees. Obviously, 2021 was a massive year for both of these up-and-comers as well as Overcast, but it’s thrilling to think about how that was only the start, and this year is going to be even more momentous for all of these aforementioned stars in their own individualistic ways, so I couldn’t be more excited to see what they do next.
