Despite only being on my radar for a month or so at this point, I’ve found myself naturally becoming more and more inclined toward the enchanting sound of London artist Rayon Nelson. The pure thought and care that seemingly goes into each one of his releases is impeccable, and furthermore, I’ve found that his music perfectly breaks up the speed and stress of the day, offering a pure and refreshing escape, even just for a few moments. Today, Nelson brings this appeal a step forward with the release of his new EP, Closer.
4 tracks long, Closer is an easily-lovable project, as Nelson’s eye-to-eye artistry takes shape in a manner more personal than ever before. Rather than feeling as though you’re a member of the audience listening to a musician from another country, this EP truly makes it feel as though listeners are on the same team as Nelson, figuring things out together, one song at a time.
Needless to say, the purity and clarity that shine through each and every moment of this EP are infectious, making this one of my favorite offerings in recent memory. Quite apparently, Rayon Nelson has found a way to turn the brevity of an EP into a piece that can stand and grow on its own, transcending its short length and washing over listeners in the process.
