Child’s Play – [Young Nudy] ft. [21 Savage]

When looking at the various rap hubs throughout the United States, it’s obvious that most of these artists stay close with one another and have each other’s backs, especially in music. While this is obvious for most talents, it seems to be a family affair at times even when certain emcees aren’t related, but when we see artists from the same family actually come together, it just works out better than ever before. As for Young Nudy and 21 Savage, the fact that they’re cousins strengthens their bond tenfold right off the bat, and every time they get together on a song, you already know it’s going to be a hit.

Back when Nudy released DR. EV4L a handful of months ago, it rapidly became one of my favorite projects of the year, and although he has released so much since then, I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that he and 21 teamed up once again with JMP to shoot a music video for their song “Child’s Play”, and the visual compliments the mysterious and ominous vibe of the song incredibly well. When things open up, Nudy and 21 are hanging out in the middle of an abandoned car junkyard at night.

While rapping along to the track, a haze of fog fills the air, contributing to the creepy vibe of the record as well as the unapologetic demeanors that both of these artists constantly exude. Joined by a woodchipper, various creepy dolls are fed into the machine which spits out stuffing and plastic, once again proving that no matter what comes their way, even a possessed toy like Chucky, they’re always going to come out on top.

As 21 begins to spit his verse, he takes the driver’s seat in a car that simulates a drive-by, supposedly practicing for when push comes to shove and they need to get back at their opps. Overall, this video might be pretty simple, but it does so much for the legacy of this song, making the music video for “Child’s Play” by Young Nudy and 21 Savage a video you’re going to need to check out as soon as you get the chance.
