“Home” is a case-by-case kind of feeling. There is no one set definition of “home,” and furthermore, no one person has the perfect home because, well, that doesn’t exist. The word itself arrives with a subjective connotation, but the one commonality that we can all relate to is the fact that we, too, all have our own definitions of home, as unique as they may be. Today, expressing his personal definition is a Los Angeles-based artist named Dylan Kidd with his incredible new single, “Ceiling Fan.”
First things first, sonically, this song is one of the most lively, warm-weathered offerings I’ve heard in quite some time, and to say it’s the perfect song to throw on repeat as we head into the summer is an understatement. The seamless groove of the guitar riffs and the hypnotic swing of the vocals make perfect sense alongside one another, making this one a must-listen before you even listen to the lyrics.
But let’s not totally ignore the lyrics, because quite honestly, the songwriting here is one of the best features of “Ceiling Fan.” Speaking on the beauty in isolation and the sense of “home” that Kidd finds in his current living situation, this song embraces life’s imperfections and puts an appreciative foot forward. The result is one of the best overall releases I’ve heard in quite some time, and consequently, one of the most exciting artists I’ve heard in recent memory.
Dylan Kidd is a must-watch, so check out “Ceiling Fan” below and let us know what you think in the comments!
