If you’ve been following Lyrical Lemonade for some time now, I’m sure you’re more than familiar with the music of Donald Grunge, one of Massachusetts’ most refreshing, boundary-pushing artists out right now. For those who aren’t familiar, however, there couldn’t be a better time to get hip, as Grunge just released one of my favorite songs of his to date, “Cantaloupe.”
Covered in elastic flows and a colorful palette of cadences, the reason I refer to this offering as a perfect introduction to Grunge is mainly due to its total disregard for a traditional structure. Grunge operates outside of the lines, and as we’ve seen on past releases such as the incredible Cowboy Talk, he’s a trend-setter at heart. Few artists can boast such an unruly, one-of-a-kind style, and even fewer can do so without sacrificing the technical integrity of their art. Grunge, on the other hand, does it all.
That said, Massachusetts is buzzing with notable talent right now, but amidst the top of the pack remains the “Cantaloupe” mastermind himself. Stream the melodic new single below and if you haven’t already, stream Cowboy Talk here!
