After featuring in very successful collaborations with Slaughterhouse member Joell Ortiz, as well as Statik Selektah, MC Bravado made it very clear that he would pursue music full-time and overall have a long-lasting and successful career. Serving as a living testament, he proved that anything is possible for him. The story of MC Bravado was one that fought my eye for a few reasons, one of those being the career path that he came from. He used to be a High School English teacher, and then he left that in the past as he went on the Vans Warped Tour in 2018. It’s not too often that we see artists who come from teaching to making music, but here we are, and he is here to drop off the visuals for his song “Bye My Lonely”.
“This is the closest thing to a living diary that I’ve ever been able to create. It was the worst time of my life and the best time of my life simultaneously, the full gamut of life’s feels; I was brought to my knees yet somehow maintaining a full sprint, so above everything, it affirmed that nothing would prevent me from making a career out of music.”
Produced by Militant Marxman, this song gives off that nostalgic feeling for me, as it sounds like a song I used to hear on old video game soundtracks when I was a kid. Nonetheless, it still stands the test of time today as he speaks on very touching subjects and traumatic life experiences. The Nick Palmer-directed visual shows Bravado on tour after living through the death of his roommate just days before his tour. While he was on tour, he also lost another childhood friend, and that motivated him to create this song, speaking to those who have lost someone in their lives, and motivating them to keep pushing on regardless.
