Hip-Hop music has evolved into a platform for a multiplicity of different artists with all kinds of styles and influences. This was especially prevalent in 2014, when the underground hip-hop scene was introduced to a Minnesota artist named Spooky Black via his eerie track, “Without U.” Fast-forward 5 years and a couple of name changes later, Spooky is back, now tagged as Corbin as a feature in R.A.D.’s track, “Boneyard.”
As the track begins, you can hear the unmistakably dark melodic tone that is Corbin. “Cause you know that I want you, pulling down my heart.” Corbin has always had a place in my rotation for the darker days and rainier nights, but R.A.D. (Rude Ass Dyke) perfectly compliments his style with a light, storytelling vibe that allows for the track to accompany some of my favorites on a nighttime cruise.
As Corbin has become somewhat of a staple in my music library, the Minneapolis product R.A.D. certainly has gained a spot, as well. Her new project Dykon was released in early May and has accumulated over 50k streams since. Look for collaborations between the two in the time to come, as this track catches a mysterious wave that can be ridden much further!
