As much as I hate to admit it, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole on YouTube that lasted way too long while searching for new music releases. Luckily, however, I found some awesome new music that is going to be added directly to my playlist. One of these songs is by a duo called Sauce Twinz who I have honestly never heard of in my life. The reason why I decided to tune in, to be completely honest, was because they had Sada Baby featured on the track, and he’s been one of my absolute favorite artists in recent memory. The song also features Sauce Gohan who, unsurprisingly, I’m also not familiar with but I can assume is part of some group along with the Twinz. Although I’ll try my best to give everyone their credit because each artist really did blow me away, I apologize in advance if I get something wrong or accidentally talk about one of the artists thinking they’re someone else if that makes any sense.
Anyways, the name of this track is called “Big Drip Squad” and after hearing all of the different energies and personalities coming together in one place, drip is pretty much the only word that can be used to describe the skills of these artists. The foundation of the beat begins with super low-pitched, sliding synths that almost sound like 808s, digital or electronic-sounding percussion, and somewhat submissive drums that are almost unnoticeable at times. I believe Sauce Gohan starts out the song and he brings a bit of a gritty, tenacious aesthetic to begin with. His flow isn’t anything unheard of, but his demeanor is assertive and lays a sort of groundwork for the rest of his counterparts to come in and do their things. One of the Twinz, who I believe goes by the name Sauce Walka, comes right in after Gohan’s part and he goes completely off the rails. His vibrant personality comes right to the forefront as he hastily spits bars that are full of energy and brings the vitality of the song up a few levels.
Sada Baby is up next, and I was expecting him to match Walka’s energy if not exceed it, but he opted for a much more subdued delivery to start out. Although he might’ve left some of his wildly entertaining vigor at home, his bars are still extremely intricate and play with the rhythm of the beat flawlessly. Finally, the artist who I believe to be Sancho Saucy, the other Twin, comes in and ends the song on the highest of notes. His lyrics are spit in a hurried, elaborate fashion that leads to the liveliness of his words going through the roof. I really enjoyed the rollercoaster we seemed to be taken on this track, starting out calm before raising the bar and repeating this once again to bring the song to an end.
As far as the music video is concerned, the group seemed to bring out the entire community for this affair. As it begins to open up, a few luxurious cars are on display as some of the artists stand around and sit inside of them while counting stacks of money and smoking blunts. Once their verses start, a crowd of people can be seen in the background dancing around and having fun listening to the track. While there aren’t too many edits or effects, there are certain shots where the hue of certain colors is altered, and other filters are put over the lens. Some of my favorite scenes come in the form of synchronized dances that Sada Baby seems to be the leader of, which I’m not surprised considering he does these dances often in his own videos and they’re always a spectacle. Although it’s not the most insane video I’ve ever seen, the fact that they brought so many friends out to vibe along with such a good song made me a fan from the start.
This is one of my favorite things about music in general because although I had never even heard of the Sauce Twinz before, I realized how much I was missing out on the Houston natives and now I can’t wait to go uncover all of the hidden gems that I was missing out on from them. I was also a fan of how Sada Baby toned himself down for the offering because as much as he would fit in perfectly with the energy that the Twinz brought, it would almost be too over the top, so I think he made the right call by restraining himself slightly. I mean, even with this restraint, he still was able to show off almost all of his skills and impressed me regardless. It’s hard to believe I would have missed out on this new video had I not gone down a YouTube wormhole, so I guess I’m glad I did even if it seemed like a waste of time at the moment. “Big Drip Squad” is the name of the song that the Sauce Twinz just released a brand-new visual for, so make sure you peep that as soon as you get the chance.
