better – [redveil] ft. [sam truth]

Back with his second release of the month, redveil is making a strong case for renaming spring “redveil season”. Delivering fans jazzy and downtempo energy on his previous release “diving board”, our hero returns once more this week with the nostalgic and heartwarming banger “better”. Featuring a fine-tuned chorus sung by Virginia-born Sam Truth, the two LL alums trade performances over a mix that perfectly captures this season’s budding bliss. Hard-hitting percussion and powerful piano chords serve as the perfect foundation for redveil to inspire listeners with verses about unification, perseverance, and patience – something that fans have had to foster in the time since redveil dropped his 2020 LP Niagara. His newest single “better” releases alongside a Manny Madrigal-directed visual featuring veil and Sam Truth meditatively performing, each rapping/singing with a steady pensiveness that surely will only make fans more ravenous for new music. Diehard fans may remember Redveil and Sam collaborating on AG Club’s “Truth” last year, and with more music coming down the pipeline from both artists, hopefully this isn’t the last time the two young artists join forces. Few artists in hip-hop have as much anticipation behind their next projects like redveil, but if his last few singles are any indication, redveil’s next project won’t be one to miss.
