Behind the Scenes of Jay Kayze’s “You Heard”: How Self-Love Transforms into Music

Jay Kayze’s latest release, “You Heard,” is a powerful statement of self-acceptance and self-love that’s sure to resonate with anyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t fit in. The track is the second single from his debut EP, “Before I Go,” and it’s accompanied by a stunning music video shot in Joshua Tree, California. Jay’s raw, emotional lyrics about the struggle to find your place in the world are brought to life in the music video by co-star and model-influencer Litzxrubi, who brings an intense, vulnerable energy to the screen.

In an interview about the single, Jay said that “You Heard” is about “letting go of the fear of judgment, relinquishing the pressure of correcting the narrative others may be writing about you, their opinions, what they might say or think. It’s owning your power.” The track’s catchy chorus, “You heard, everything right,” is a sarcastic statement that underscores the idea that no matter what you say or do, there will always be people who judge you, and it’s not worth the energy it takes to try to correct them.

This year, the rising talent plans to release his debut EP on his label, Pink Castle Records. He aspires to have the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Dre, Drake, Kanye, Kendrick, J. Cole, Eminem, Lauryn Hill, Andre 3000, Frank Ocean, and Rihanna. But for now, he’s focused on building his brand and creating music that inspires and empowers his fans.
