Barriers To Knowing EP – [Meech]

Van Buren Records member Meech released his six-track Barries To Knowing EP almost a week ago today, and since its release, it’s been an integral part of my rotation. The Brockton-bred rap artist has always been technically skilled, but his new EP taps into a more artistically diverse sound that is seriously exciting to hear. Speaking broadly, the EP is a collection of mixtape reminiscent tracks that boom but also includes songs that depart on a minute-long guitar medley exposing a previously unheard side of Meech. Personally, the EP’s closer, “Numb,” holds a strong position as my favorite from the project, but the sheer fact that it also coexists alongside memorable songs like “Expensive Taste,” “Heavens Gate,” and “Sprained Wrist” make this project filled with highlight moments. This new EP marks Meech’s second project of the year and is another exciting step forward from the rising rapper and the collective he represents.
