It is no secret whatsoever that quite the telling amount of sounds and styles within the ever-growing digicore scene were originally fostered by one i9bonsai. From how dynamic they were able to make their highest of high-pitched delivery far before anyone else could, to the spacious and atmospheric landscapes they created with their tried and true sound by itself, they were and always will be ahead of the curve when it comes to cohesively defining this community of artists.
These descriptions have never laid dormant as they continue to strengthen their discography day in and day out. Among their most standout traits is the fact that they consistently evolve their artistic approach with each successive release, despite being so of-their-own as an artist in the first place. Their most recent single “bandage ##” is an ideal representation of this exact outlook put in full effect, with all the expected quality in the world to come with it.
Taking a slight departure from their typically-blissful and heavenly song-construction, this track is a far more direct and hard-hitting one that stands out in all the best ways imaginable compared to the rest of their discography. This fact arises from the outstanding work on production here from the duo of lb66 and zvanz — the two creating a distortion-latent, rapidly dense beat that pushes our performer’s ethereal approach to its darkest depths yet.
They come to capitalize on this setting by giving a fittingly-momentous performance of their own. Their vocals, while submerging themselves into the compact mix of sounds, are nearly hypnotic due to the captivating flows and biting lyrics that correlate with them. These aspects give the entire experience that this track presents all the character in the world — a fact never lost upon any i9bonsai offering, but still impressive here nonetheless given how this track sonically contrasts with their past cuts.
But that is exactly what makes an artist like this so special; they are able to infuse their most defining aspects into practically any sonic setting that is presented to them. Tracks like this could not be any better at giving proof to this sentiment, and it goes to show that i9bonsai’s remarkably nuanced approach to modern music will never be lost upon any listener so long as they continue this long-lasting trend about themself.
