Backdoor – [PGF Nuk]

I love how Chicago is a city that never fails to let me down when it comes to learning about talented up-and-comers. Sure, since I live here, I should probably already have known about PGF Nuk and the insane movement that he has been bringing to life throughout his years as an emcee, but it wasn’t until a recent road trip that my brother turned on a song that I simply couldn’t help but look up myself.

Since then, I realized that there is no shortage of output from the rising talent, and one of his most recent releases was called “Backdoor” which is a heater in and of itself, but it also comes with a No More Heroes-presented and J.Smithfilms music video that undeniably takes things to an entirely different level. The song sounds like a new, sinister take on a classic drill-inspired track that made me fall in love with the menacing subgenre about a decade ago, and while I feel like Nuk can easily draw comparisons to the DCG Brothers, I firmly believe that he is going to see his career take off in a similar way (if he hasn’t seen it already).

The music video is made in a similarly nostalgic way, at least in my opinion. Although it opens with a short skit that sets it apart, I feel like all of the money, weed smoke, and simplistic shots of Nuk with his homies bring me back to the early days of Chief Keef flicks where simple was always the most appealing. PGF Nuk is surely one of the next young talents to see his name in the stars, so make sure you tap in with his latest release “Backdoor” as soon as you possibly can.
