Ever since Eternal Atake came out, I’ve been slightly disappointed that we haven’t gotten any true music videos to accompany the project. I know this is selfish considering how wonderful the album itself was so I shouldn’t be asking for too much, but music videos are one of the better parts of the post-album time period. We have gotten lyric videos for a couple of songs that are definitely more intricate and well put together than a lot of other lyric videos I’ve seen in the past, but at the end of the day, they’re pretty much just showing lyrics on a screen, so they can be somewhat boring.
Uzi is back with yet another lyric video for the album’s opening track “Baby Pluto”, but this one is much different than the rest. It actually tells a story through Claymation visuals, which is a style that has been booming in the Rap world as of late, and the lyrics just happen to be on the screen while the video is running its course. I’m not going to go into detail about the track itself considering everyone has heard it by now and if you haven’t, you’ll get the chance while watching this entertaining video. It begins outside of a house as a miniature Lamborghini drives around. The colors are vivid and lively, as the grass is purple and the other, more normal elements of the visual pop as well. The Baby Pluto character that graces the cover of the album is brought to life, as the bug-eyed figure can be seen watching TV before being brought out into the forest. Purple hooded figurines continuously appear in the distance, as they’re keeping an eye on Uzi’s character while they’re seemingly devising some sort of plan.
Later on, during what must be nighttime in this alternate universe, Uzi is laying underneath a purple blanket in his room with his feet hanging out. The shoes he is wearing appear to be Nike Decades, which is the notorious silhouette of the shoes that the Heaven’s Gate cult wore during their infamous mass suicide. This is amazing attention to detail because this cult has popped up consistently throughout the album and its rollout, so continuously seeing little hints and references to this event takes the overall concept to new heights. As he lays in his room, posters on the wall share his musical influence from Marilyn Manson, as well as the cover arts from all of his previous projects. Towards the end of the video, he ends up getting abducted by these purple figures, floating up into the sky as he keeps his purple blanket cloaked over himself, which will most likely lead to him becoming one of these characters.
Once again, I’m really excited but also anxious to finally receive an actual visual for any of the songs on his album, but I guess I’ll take lyric videos over nothing. I did enjoy this one more than the previous lyric visuals he released because it actually told a bit more of a story and felt more interesting than his other offerings. Although the other two were really well put together, they’re just simply not substitutes for an actual music video in the slightest, in my own opinion. If I know one thing, it’s that Uzi is always five steps ahead of everyone else and really plans his moves masterfully. Due to this, I know he’s got something up his sleeve, but it’s just a matter of when he feels is the right time to reveal it. Sure, this is speculation on my end, but we’ve seen him surprise us countless times in the past, so I don’t think it’s that absurd to say he’s gearing up for a more intricate release of a well-shot music video or something along those lines. The lyric video for “Baby Pluto” is truly the most story-like visual from Eternal Atake to date, so be sure to give it a watch when you get a moment.
