At this point, everything Brandon releases will always have a place on our page. One of the hardest feats to achieve in not only music, but in life, is consistency. Being able to do something over and over again to the same level of perfection each time is a skill that not many acquire, but when you do, people notice. Brandon is that type of person and it’s been noticed by our entire staff here at Lyrical Lemonade. Ever since coming off of his hiatus and dropping “Weep”, the Riverside native has been on an absolute tear of releasing great music and the trend continues today.
“Baby” is the brand new offering that Brandon has decided to bless us with today. The well established artist doesn’t feel the need to tease music for weeks in advance, but whenever you see his staple instagram journal post, you know its go-time. The announcement went up last week and from that moment, I’ve been anticipating an amazing piece from the singer/songwriter/musician. The best release days are those that have a video to accompany the song and “Baby” has just that. The cinematic caliber visual is the perfect representation of Brandon’s professional polish and artistic style. The best videos are those that make you fall more in love with the song and this one does just that. With various scene shifts and location changes, Brandon professes his love and emotion from every corner and avenue.
I was able to talk to the rising star about the inspiration behind this song and he explained to me that this was a song that was actually written almost 2 years ago.
“It was Black Friday of 2018. I remember just feeling alone and the first thing I did was start writing. I grabbed my guitar by the bed and finished the song in it’s entirety right then and there. The concept was done. I was thinking about the better times her and I had. It was rare for her to call me Brandon. Her term of endearment for me was “Bubby”, hence the line in the song about that. During this time, I battled with wanting/trying to reach out, so this song was simply a proclamation of me telling someone to let my Baby know that I need her.”
Hearing this story allows me to connect with the song even more. The way in which Brandon is able to muster up these raw emotions and turn them into pure art that people can connect with is truly a gift that not many people have. “Baby” might just be my favorite song to date by Brandon as it takes his catalog to another level. His vocal range, control and innate power make this song such a treat to listen to. Stay tuned for the whole entire video to catch a surprise announcement at the end! I’ve attached the video down below, so please take the time out of your day to check this one out and congratulate the amazing crew for making such a spectacular piece!
