Detroit may be known for its fast-paced sound and feverish energy, but today, Baby Smoove is here to switch things up. In his latest release, “Baby,” the rising star slows things down, mixing muddy deliveries with mesmeric production from none other than one of the underground’s finest, Wiardon (who also produced my other favorite Baby Smoove song, “400$ Shirt“). Resulting is a song that seemingly slows time down, allowing Smoove to unleash a dizzying supply of top-tier braggadocio in the process. It’s unbelievable.
Perhaps the finest element of this release, however, is the evolution of flows here. Smoove shows great versatility in his ability to change the tempo of things, and furthermore, the way that he lets each line seemingly trip into the next is second to none. Nothing is forced and nothing is rushed, allowing each clever brag to receive its full helping of well-deserved attention along the way.
If you weren’t convinced of Baby Smoove quite yet, “Baby” will surely be the release to do it. As I’ve said in the past, Detroit has a new star ready to emergy, so be sure to show some love and pay attention by clicking on the new release below!
