“Things don’t always work out the way you want them to, but that’s life honestly. Broken promises wrote this song. I wrote this after an event that fell through and really messed with my head. Regardless of the situation, always move forward. all up from here” – dev soter
Salem, Massachusetts artist dev soter makes his deserved Lyrical Lemonade debut with a fantastic alt-indie anthem titled “all up from here.” After suffering a series of setbacks including a few rejections from notable folks in the music industry, soter’s song centers around resiliency; namely an optimistic belief that circumstances can only improve moving forward. Lyrically there’s a good amount of vulnerability expressed, but the emotion in soter’s vocals is what truly captured my attention. The alternative instrumentation meshes well with the highly-personal words sung, and the guitar in particular electrifies the record as if to signify a breakthrough in dev’s trajectory. Overall, “all up from here” is not only a sonically pleasing track for your ears, but also an inspiring offering to remind us that all great developments require a bit of patience.
