“This is basically a combination of my last two released EP’s. What is interesting is that the underlying messages did not change, but the way I got my point across did. Hence the name. The “sale” is the approach. One way is through obvious culturally influenced production, the other is through words of juxtaposition. Me vs the status quo. Either way, ain’t shit changed” – Southside Anxt
Chicago’s own Southside Anxt returns to Lyrical Lemonade with a diverse new EP entitled Ain’t Shit Changed, But The Lingo Is For Sale. With nine lyrically adept tracks, Anxt fascinatingly weaves socio-political [American] commentary with his own racial identity. Moreover, there’s subtle layers of introspection present, as Southside alludes to his struggles as an independent artist with a routine day-job. Ain’t Shit Changed, But The Lingo Is For Sale is rapped through the lens of American Capitalism; specifically through the perspective of a Black male-artist attempting to reclaim his people’s narrative amid modern day inequities.
