4 Month Binge Before Revenge – [wifisfuneral]

Music that’s made with a purpose always seems to reminisce with me for much longer than any other records that are made just for fun, and while these easygoing tracks might be in constant rotation for the time being, they usually get phased out before I even realize it. I just feel like when a musician, especially someone with as much talent as wifisfuneral, makes music from the heart in order to try and get something off their chest, express the emotions they’re going through, or as a way of coping with past tragedies or struggles, I want to listen, learn, and appreciate their courage and honesty, regardless of the outcome.

I mention wifi because he just ended a months-long break from music with the release of his brand-new album 4 Month Binge Before Revenge, a 12-song, 25-minute-long effort that really shows him at his best, even with some of the subject matter that had to be difficult to cover. On this project, wifi dives deep into some extremely trying topics that were the result of a recent spiral of misery, self-remedy, and frantic creation, giving into his imperfections as a way to fuel his music, even if it wasn’t always the healthiest for him mentally or physically. The 4 months he refers to in the project’s title actually represent the time he spent recording this effort earlier this year from January to April where he let himself run wild and spoil himself with all of his worst behaviors to eventually come out on the other side a different person.

The 25-year-old South Florida veteran really just unlocks every door and lets down every wall within, ultimately enduring an internal battle that’s compelling, shocking, and undeniably gripping. In the midst of these riveting revelations, wifi is at his very best in terms of sheer execution, delivering lines that are expressive and dominant without ever getting too grim or overshadowing the fact that he’s one of the best underground emcees to ever touch a microphone.

All in all, wifisfuneral truly lays it all out on the table on 4 Month Binge Before Revenge, never shying away from his fears or hiding from his insecurities, and the result of this openness is an outstanding and unignorable album that will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next twist or turn as if you’re watching a show and have no idea what’s going to happen next. If that’s not enough to get you to stop whatever you’re doing to go check it out, then I’m not sure what will, but don’t just take my word for it, and experience this project for yourself.
