2AM – [SwaVay]

Upon the long-awaited release of his new album, Pure Infinity, tomorrow, the slow-burning ascent of Boominati artist SwaVay is just about ready to come full circle. From a personal perspective, I’ve watched this natural-born lyricist experience immense growth in both sound and skill over the past few years, and as a result, the more recent music to come from SwaVay seems to be his most self-aware and determined to date. Today, teasing fans before the full project arrives, the Atlanta native is here with a purposeful new release, “2 AM.”

As with any personal album, Pure Infinity will certainly give listeners a better look into the life and mindset of SwaVay, but rather than just jumping right into it, “2AM” acts as the perfect primer before this diary-esque full release actually arrives. Attesting to the sentiment of purpose, “2AM” allows SwaVay to take a step back and truly identify the aspects of life and music that keep him motivated. In a fitting manner, scenes of the man himself tirelessly working out in the gym act as a perfect backdrop to this description of this mindset, but even more impactful are the scenes that begin and end this video.

With this, right at the start, “2AM” kicks things off on a religious note, using a church-based sample to set the scene for SwaVay’s faith in himself and his direction in life. As the video progresses, he finds himself in a meeting with who I assume represents an inauthentic, profit-driven corporate head (a man holding a sign that literally states, “sign your life away”), and SwaVay responds accordingly with the subject matter of the song, “disposing” of this greedy businessman while sticking to the beat of his own drum.

Needless to say, “2AM” is an undeniable earworm as well a truly impressive lyrical release, soundtracking SwaVay’s career and the guidelines by which he navigates his personal and professional life. With this in mind, I can’t help but say that this one truly hits home, and I would deeply encourage all of our readers out there to pay attention. As we await the project arriving tomorrow, “2AM” is a perfect release to get ready for SwaVay’s new full-length effort!
